Hello! Happy Friday! How was the week? I appreciate that it was brief. I’m ready for the weekend. We went back to school, danced, and got to see Nate Bargatze last night. VERY fun and good.
I’ll spend this weekend cleaning up the aftermath of San Diego and am looking forward to a couple of quiet days. We also start our community detox on Monday! It’s not too late to join. You can get your kit here (7, 14 or 21 days use FITNESSISTA10) and join our closed facebook group here. Many of us are doing a longer detox, so there will still be friends participating every time you receive your kit.
San Diego Recap + Friday Favorites
San Diego was the BEST. We enjoyed four days in one of our favorite places and also enjoyed some new adventures. We experienced LEGOLAND for the first time, taking the girls paddle boarding and kayaking (twice because they loved it!) and found out that P is not a fan of the Melting Pot lol.
We arrived Friday afternoon and decided to spend the afternoon shopping at UTC, and then enjoyed dinner at Seasons 52. We haven’t been to one in years. I still wish Tucson had one! – And she lived up to the pleasant memories. Of course, the girls loved the mini desserts.
We called it an early night and the next day we woke up and it was raining. It rarely rains in San Diego, despite June Gloom and May Grey, and after being in the scorching heat of Tucson, it was quite beautiful.
I took a class from Lagree
while the team caught Better Buzz for all of us,
and then we went out paddling and kayaking while the sun came up. P sat on the front of my board and Liv used her own kayak. We were in the ocean for an hour and saw jellyfish, jumping fish, and two rays. It was wild!
(swimsuit top and the funds are here)
After paddling, we went to Pacific Beach for the rest of the afternoon to swim and play in the waves. It’s funny because while we lived in San Diego, we avoided the beaches on holiday weekends because they were so busy. Now, we don’t care at all. We are happy to be there. 😉
Lunch consisted of acai bowls with watermelon, salads, and coffee.
and dinner was at the Melting Pot. We wandered around the Gaslamp and since we didn’t have dinner reservations, the Melting Pot seemed like a novel and fun option. Liv ended up loving it and P did NOT like it. She said, “Why do I have to cook my own food…this is a restaurant?”
This particular meal was not my favorite either. The whole experience took too long (and the kids were tired by the end of the day) and the food was not as good as it had been in the past. We loved it in the past, but now we don’t like poaching meat in a warm pot anymore lol. I would go back just for the dessert, but everything else was average.
On Sunday we had breakfast on the way:
(Nekter’s chocolate and acai bowl is LIFE)
and then I spent the day at LEGOLAND.
AP loves anything lego-related, so we wanted to bring her in before she got too old, because it’s definitely aimed at younger kids. We all ended up having fun. The rides were super cute and fun, the food was surprisingly amazing, and we were all blown away by the amazing Lego sculptures and mini cities.
We did all the main attractions, enjoyed lunch and walked around exploring. Dinner was Pizza Port in the hotel room which was 10/10 as usual.
Monday morning we were back on the water.
(Bermuda, sports braand tank they’re here. Livi’s monkey is here. Also, I’m amused by the fact that P can now use lululemon)
This time P and the pilot did a tandem kayak, Liv had hers and I was on the SUP. It was the perfect way to cap off our trip before grabbing Great Maple to go and hitting the road. We also saw a LOT of dogs on paddle boards while we were there. I need to take Maisey next time!!
It was definitely a trip for the books, even though it was short, we made the most of it. I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend too!
It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and from around the web. I always love hearing about your favorites, so shout out something you like in the comments section below.

Fitness + good food:
Sakara Foods.(You can use XOGINAH for 20% off) I’ve been enjoying Sakara for breakfast, lunch and dinner this week and it’s been a pleasure! It has also been a great way for me to focus on nutrient-dense foods as we get into detoxification.
TBH, I haven’t done the best job of feeding myself over the past five months. Eye problems have added a layer of stress to my life that was first characterized by skipping meals (I was too stressed to eat) and then turning in the complete opposite direction and simply eating brown, comforting, sweet foods. My blood test results were a wake-up call that I need to take care of myself the same way I would take care of any member of my family, or encourage those I love and coach to take care of themselves.
sakara meals I’ve been feeling amazing and I’m looking forward to this little reset as I work to rebalance my body. After the 21-Day EquiLife Detox, I will go to the CBO protocol and some additional supplements + lifestyle changes.
Fashion + beauty:
This black dress from Amazon! Super easy to dress up or down. The black one is currently sold out, but they have other colors.
I grabbed this hoodie while we were in San Diego. I LOVE the color purple.
Happy friday friends! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and see you soon.
